Dropzone A at the Koeveringsedijk at Eerde
is the location where the first parachutists of Operation Market Garden landed.
Their goal: occupy 4 bridges at Veghel and defend them.
This jump is dedicated to Vincent Speranza (H/501 PIR – 101 ABD).
He was a regular visitor at the commemoration jumps of RCPT (Round Canopy Parachuting Team) and made a tandem jump in 2019 at this dropzone. He attended the dropping at St. Oedenrode last year. (click here.)
He died this year at the age of 98. (August 2 2023).
